Discussion:
How do I tell if my dis-assembled 1950's Glod Crown is a 9 footer or a Super 8?

My table is taken apart and I have it listed on Craig's list but this
guy is asking me if it is a 9" table. I measured the slate and it is
33" long - there are 3 pieces of course. Since this adds up to 99",
does it make it a 9' table? I am sure it would be 9" when put
together. Apparently this makes a big difference in price when
selling an old Gold Grown.

... [is it a 9' table?] ... adds up to 99" ...
In this case, you're right: Size really DOES make a difference ... ;-> !

The normal PLAYING AREA of a 9' table is 100" x 50". As your measurements
are LESS than 100" (would probably need to be around 108" for a reg. 9'
table), it sounds like it may be a "Super 8" or even a reg. 8' table!

I'm not positive about this so, if you don't get any other answers here,
please RE-POST this query in the following newsgroup:

Gold crown tables weren't manufactured until 1961, there should be a
nomenclature tag somewhere underneath the rail blind at one end of the table
that should tell you everything about the table in cluding the size. It is
an 8' pro table by the measurements you suppied.
