Shadows on my balls

I've just installed an 8x4 table with an integral set of 3 lights (100W
bulbs in each) above it - problem is they are casting shadows. Is there a
minimum distance (I'm already close to the ceiling), I cannot see how the
shadows can be avoided.

One thing that's recommended for incandescent light fixtures is to put a lower
wattage bulb in the center fixture to make the lighting a bit more even over the
whole table. If you have 100w bulbs in the ends, try a 60w bulb in the center.
